Mechanical

Evaluating mechanical problems becomes easier after identifying two sounds. Two distinct different sounds originate from rotating shafts and reciprocating parts. A reciprocating problem usually knocks, taps, or clicks, and a rotating noise is a more constant noise as an engine or motor shaft is being rotated. Either a rotating issue or a reciprocating issue causes a vibration withing metal framework. A hand held digital thermometer can identify the source of either mechanical failure. Most mechanical failures result from lack of lubrication and the result is heat generation. The source of mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical failures can be found by temperature differentials.
